Itinerary
We leave Cusco early and drive through the South Valley, passing traditional villages and picturesque landscapes. After approximately 3 hours, we arrive in Checacupe, where we enjoy a hearty breakfast. From there, we continue to the trailhead for Palcoyo.
The hike to Palcoyo is relatively easy, taking about an hour to reach the colorful mountains. Along the way, you’ll pass through stunning landscapes and traditional Andean communities. At the top, you’ll be greeted by the vibrant stripes of Palcoyo’s mountains and the surreal formations of the stone forest. The views are breathtaking, with the Ausangate Mountain towering in the distance.
After exploring and taking photos, we descend and enjoy a picnic lunch with panoramic views of the Andes. We then return to Cusco, arriving in the late afternoon, enriched by the beauty and tranquility of Palcoyo.
