Itinerary
Day 1: Sacred Valley Exploration
We begin our adventure with a visit to Pisac, a charming town known for its vibrant artisan market and impressive Inca ruins. Stroll through the market, where local artisans sell handmade textiles, jewelry, and pottery, and then explore the archaeological site perched high above the town. The terraces, temples, and ceremonial baths of Pisac offer stunning views of the valley and a glimpse into Inca daily life.
Next, we head to Urubamba, where we enjoy a delicious buffet lunch featuring traditional Andean dishes. In the afternoon, we visit Ollantaytambo, a living Inca town with a fortress that served both military and religious purposes. Climb its steep terraces for panoramic views and learn about its strategic importance during the Spanish conquest. We spend the night in a comfortable hotel in the Sacred Valley, preparing for the next day’s adventure.
Day 2: Machu Picchu Discovery
After an early breakfast, we take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes, enjoying breathtaking views of the Urubamba River and surrounding mountains. Upon arrival, we board a bus for the short ascent to Machu Picchu.
Our expert guide will lead you through the citadel, sharing fascinating insights into its history, architecture, and purpose. You’ll explore highlights such as the Temple of the Sun, the Intihuatana, and the Main Plaza, learning about the theories surrounding Machu Picchu’s construction and abandonment. After the guided tour, you’ll have free time to explore the site at your own pace, take photos, or simply soak in the mystical atmosphere.
We return to Aguas Calientes for lunch before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo. From there, a private transfer will take you back to Cusco, where you’ll arrive in the evening, filled with unforgettable memories of this two-day journey.
